About Cris
I completed a MEng in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and post-doc in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins.
Across nine years of research experience, my work has involved extensive application of technical skills including statistical tools, mathematical concepts, and computer programming. As I have mentored junior researchers and trainees in programming and quantitative methods, I have developed a strong ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
As the Lead Instructor for 4 courses at Johns Hopkins, each taught multiple times, I have extensive experience with both in person and online teaching, on topics that include statistics, probability, algebra, programming, and mathematic tools for data analysis.
Together, this work has provided me with strong foundations to meet your tutoring needs.

I am committed to fostering a collaborative, student-centered tutoring culture designed to ensure that even the most complex technical subjects are accessible to all. I prioritize a "learning-by-doing" approach rooted in evidence-based teaching practices and supported by formal pedagogical training.
I will support you by first breaking down complex theoretical concepts into simple, digestible chunks. We will then reinforce your understanding of these concepts through structured problem-solving and hands-on activities that specifically foster a deeper and practically-applicable understanding of the material. Throughout the session, you will be able to ask questions and express opinions in a judgement-free environment.
As a neurodiverse person myself, I also care deeply about supporting students with ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. I have completed a Teaching Academy Certificate at Johns Hopkins with a focus on inclusive education, and I remain committed to strengthening my evidence-based practices through ongoing coursework in educational psychology.
