About Rita
WELCOME!
An experienced teacher and concert pianist, Dr. Margarita Tsareva-Huber is the product of several generations of Russian classical musicians and composers and was introduced to the piano at age 5. She began teaching piano herself at age of 16. She was recognized throughout her adolescence as a "young virtuoso" in competitions she won in Kazan, Nizhniy Novgorod, Cheboksary, and Samara. This culminated in the Special Music College Competitions in Russia, where she placed first with "Best performance of Russian composers pieces", first in "Best performance of Bach music", and first in "Best performance of masterly compositions".
Her study continued at the Glinka State Conservatory of Music in Gorky (now Nizhniy Novgorod), Russia, where she developed her talent in the demanding traditions of Russian classical piano as portrayed by Sergey Rachmaninov, Lev Oborin, Vladimir Ashkenazi, Emil Gilels, Yakov Flier, Sviatoslav Richter, Nikolay Petrov, Tatiana Nikolaeva among other greats. Her instructors were students of Henry Neighauz, Yakov Milstein and Alexandr Goldenveizer. Rita fulfilled the highest achievements at Glinka and matriculated as teacher, soloist and concertmaster (known here as an accompanist or collaborative pianist).
Afterward, Rita completed two years of post-graduate work and continued piano instruction at the Special Music School. Competitions in later years provided her with six additional concertmaster bests and many, many awards for her students. She also performed extensively with her students in a variety live cultural events and on radio and television in Russia.
Rita moved to northern Idaho/Washington in 2001 and has since been featured in a variety of performances for the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Lake City Playhouse productions, Coeur d' Alene Opera and Spokane Opera shows, KPBX "Piano Bench" programs as well as special recitals and local music festivals, and as an accompaniment for young artists in various district, regional and national competitions.
Dr. Tsareva-Huber resides with her family in the beautiful heart of Spokane Valley, WA, where she maintains her piano studio. She has excellent results teaching younger children, teenagers and adults.

For generations, Russian classical pianists have dominated the music scene internationally. Their demanding tradition of piano instruction is at the core of that achievement.
The Russian School of Piano Art Studio is now available to students in the United States. It provides a complex of music education for beginners (age 4 onward) which will give them an ability to read, play, and write down music even in their beginning years. Parents of very young children are encouraged to attend and learn, too!
The Russian School combines music theory, music history and piano lessons. These areas have distinct goals.
PIANO COURSE GOALS
Using the proven techniques of Russian piano instruction and methodology, students will follow a well-developed program of repertoire for every year of development. The student is taught to develop and master his technical and sound skills in order to perform as a soloist, or to play in ensemble, or to accompany. These skills require different aspects of technique and ability and thorough practice. A daily practice is necessary. For the first year, for very young beginners (4-6 years old) a practice session should be at least 20 minutes long, or arranged in two 15-minute sessions per day. The practice time must increase with age and level.
The piano program also includes a Creative Skills development: how to sight-read, how to find the right harmonies (chords) for a student's favorite tunes and transpose these to different keys, as well as to create music and improvise with technical acumen.
The comprehensive repertoire progresses through all styles, forms, genres, and composers. Students will play Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Traditional, Contemporary and Jazz and listen to the great world class performers in these fields as well as study the composers, their music, and their epoch.
Preparatory course for younger kids is also available - this beginning piano curriculum is primarily developed and targeted towards 4- to 6-year-old students, but can benefit older beginners as well.
MUSIC THEORY GOALS
Students will learn the basics of music language and develop ear training skills in order to hear and write down simple melodies and intervals, to read different rhythm patterns, understand traditional music notation and terminology as well as how to transpose tunes to other keys, train their music memory and much more in an atmosphere that is fun and absorbing for the student.
SECOND YEAR & THEREAFTER
After the first preparatory year, when piano course work becomes more involved and challenging, depending on student's individual abilities, one session of 45 or 60 minutes duration per week is offered. Longer home practices are required - daily. The opportunities to perform in concerts, recitals, music festivals and competitions are available to students every year.
