Emilio J. Sanchez has valuable experience in different fields such as teaching, communications, public relations and journalism.
He is currently an adjunct Instructor at the Abraham Fischler College of Education, Nova Southeastern University. He has a long and diverse teaching experience. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Cuba, Mexico, and the United States: Journalism, Trends of the Press, Spanish Language, Spanish Writing, Communication and Political Science. As a manager, he has served as a Media Relations Manager (Latin America) and has organized workshops and seminars for journalists.
He is an effective speaker and writer and an accomplished pedagogue, with more than 25 years of experience as a professor of Social Sciences and Journalism. Linguist and translator (from English and Portuguese into Spanish), he has coordinated the work of teams of translators for international conferences. As a translator, he has worked for The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Inter American Press Association, The Children's Trust, Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership and other institutions.
He has been a Coordinator of Communications Area, Koubek Center, University of Miami, and traveled in most of the countries of Latin America (Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Perú).
He worked as a Spanish Editor with the United Nations in New York and has been a Copy Editor for several Spanish publications in U.S. A. (El Nuevo Herald, Diario Las Américas, Mundo 21, Aboard Magazine). He also has published articles and interviews in El Nuevo Herald, Diario Las Américas, Encuentro en la Red, Nuevo Hogar, Mundo 21, Batanga, among other outlets.
Sanchez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Languages and Literature (University of Havana) and a Ph.D. in Philosophical Sciences (Taras Shevchenko University, Ukraine). His blog, sehablaespanolblog, is dedicated to supporting public school and promoting teaching of languages.
