About Lori ann

I'm a certified teacher in British Columbia, and love my day job as a teacher and special education coordinator at an independent school, and want to extend my love of teaching to a wider audience.

I am in my last year of homeschooling my 16-year-old daughter, as well, as she graduates in June of 2023.

I have taught ESL in Peru and Taiwan and started my own tutoring business in Victoria, BC, before starting work at a school--where I have been for over 10 years.

I am educated in the United States, getting my chemistry degree and a second major in secondary physical science education in 1990. I did my student teaching in Chicago, IL, and taught for two years in Idaho.

About the lesson

I have a lot of experience teaching online with platforms like Zoom. I am very familiar with learning outcomes and expectations for the BC Curriculum and am capable of helping at both an individual level and in small groups in an online format.

While I can teach or tutor most academic subject areas from elementary through adult, my favorite groups and subjects are middle and high school sciences. I really like chemistry, but also put many hours into teaching all streams of science for almost every grade level.

I believe in making content material relevant and fun whenever possible, and enjoy establishing a certain level of familiarity and ease with my students to help relieve any academic anxiety that might be present.
