About Emma
I recently completed a Master of Arts in Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto, and previously completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies at the University of Guelph.
I have additionally completed the Teaching Fundamentals Certificate program at the University of Toronto. I am Certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), and have been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to elementary and high school-aged students for three years. I teach one-on-one lessons, as well as small-group classes and classrooms of up to 50 students.
I have an extensive and varied teaching background in addition to my work as an ESL instructor; I have taught undergraduate level classes in Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto, and worked as a dance instructor at the Holly Hughes Dance Academy in Guelph throughout my academic career.

I structure lessons with regard to student need, ability and interest. I am very flexible and adaptable in my approach to teaching, and can adapt my teaching style, approach and class curriculum to best fit each learner. I aim to facilitate lessons, rather than lecture, allowing students to learn through active discussion and participation.
