About Maria Paola
Hello! My name is Maria Paola, I'm an Italian living in Barcelona. I am a professional translator with a master's degree in Translation, driven by a strong passion for English and Anglo-American literature. Thanks to my academic background and work experience, I have developed a deep understanding not only of the English language but also of its rich literary and cultural traditions.
English has been an integral part of my life and work for years, and I love sharing this passion with my students. I believe that studying a language means not just learning to communicate, but also exploring new worlds and ideas through the words of renowned authors.

Hello! If you're looking to improve your English, explore English literature, or prepare for important exams, you're in the right place! My name is Maria Paola, and I'm here to make learning English engaging and never boring.
My Teaching Method
My approach combines interactive techniques tailored to each student's needs. I focus on the four key skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. But we don't stop there! I love mixing grammar rules with conversational practice, adding discussions on novels, poems, and plays to keep things exciting.
Teaching English for me is about creating connections: between language and culture, between past literature and the present, and between critical thinking and the joy of reading. Each lesson is like a mini-journey, where we work on grammar and vocabulary while also exploring great authors like Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and George Orwell.
What Does a Typical Lesson Look Like?
Introduction and Warm-up: We start with a brief conversation to get those linguistic muscles moving! We’ll review previous topics and introduce the theme of the day.
Language and Literature: I present a literary text, whether it’s an excerpt from a novel, a poem, or an interesting article. We’ll analyze it together, focusing on both meaning and language structure. We blend grammar with literature to make everything more stimulating!
Practical Exercises and Discussions: Now comes the fun part! Whether it's reflecting on a literary theme or discussing an interesting character, we practice writing and speaking with confidence and creativity.
Wrap-up and Homework: At the end, we recap what we’ve learned, and I give you a small creative task or a reading to do for the next class. Everything tailored just for you!
What Makes My Lessons Unique?
I love teaching with a flexible and creative approach. Beyond grammar and vocabulary, we’ll dive into literature through critical discussions and close reading techniques, enhancing not only your understanding of English but also your analytical skills.
My lessons are perfect for:
- High school students looking to deepen their understanding of English literature or prepare for exams.
- University students who want to improve their academic writing and critical thinking.
- Adults and professionals wanting to refine their communication skills or enjoy the pleasure of reading English literature.
Whether you're looking to improve your grammar, explore literary classics, or simply feel more confident in conversation, we’ll create a personalized learning path to help you achieve your goals!
