About Gage

I'm Gage Gerber a senior at San Dieguito Academy and have recently started to teach beginner guitar lessons. I myself am a self taught guitar player who's been playing for about 4 years. I play with a surf rock band named The Pool Cats with local high school students. I think I'd be a great fit for many kids in the area as I am still younger which will help to avoid the nervousness a kid gets when learning guitar from someone who's much older. Yet I'm am still quite knowledgeable of the instrument and have taught many. I have develepoded a Beginner Guitar curriculum to help kids succeed from the deep hole we all get stuck in from learning guitar. It is actually based on the way I was able to teach myself guitar and how you can get learning new chords, leads, and songs on your own in a short period of time. Well I love playing guitar/music and the joy that brings people so I thought it would be nice to teach people the instrument. I've helped friends and families throughout the last couple of year and this is my next step.

About the lesson

My typical process with a student would be, during the first free lesson just to get an understanding of where the student is at if they are already playing chords or bare bones just starting to pick up the instrument. Then I basically have a pretty simple curriculum that would allow the student to see what they will get out of the next few lessons to progress whether that chord charts, new scales, or song tabs.

Find not only someone who can teach you guitar but someone you would want to sit in a room with for 30 minutes to an hour. I hear too many students quitting lessons because they find that although their teacher is more experienced they just either can't get along with them or it's hard to talk with someone so much older.

Details

For the most part I will be charging 30$ for an hour lesson and 15$ for a 30 minute. We can also work out a 45 minute lesson if that is desired. I recommend a 30 minute lesson to most kids as that will keep it fresh and keep us from getting too off track
