When working with a new student, I start by asking what they're looking forward to learning and then assess what their current level of comprehension is. From there, it's easier to make goals and see what steps need to be taken to meet them over time.
I've taught students of various personalities, needs, and backgrounds, between the ages of 2 & 15 years. I've mostly taught younger children, but I love getting to do more advanced things with the older kids as well.
