About Jacob

My name is Jacob, I have been a professional actor since the age of 5. I have had the privilage of working with everyone from the innefable Zpaora Schpizman to Steven McKinley Henderson to the incomparable Al Pacino. I see acting as a healing art in a world of so much hurt and pain; I see it as a way of connecting people to each other. I work by encouraging and helping actors develop a true sense of confidence. True confidence comes from real mastery, not from simply learning a skill. My teaching style is disciplined and demanding, and because I know that everyone comes to this with different experiences and works at a different pace, I work tirelessly with each individual student until they reach full competence in each step toward mastery. Everything has meaning to the artist, and we care about everything. I use a base of Stanislavsky and Sanford Meisner with modern, classical and Shakespearian text as a base to bring the truest aspects of the words from the artist heart. I try to inspire the artist to connect to that part of oneself that knows that there’s meaning behind everything, and together we work to enable the artist to give it voice. I have founded and ran my own acting school for close to 10 years called The Artist Gym along with decades of working the stage and film as well as being a part of the RSC for a stint. I am the proud father of a wonderful 11 year old girl who makes me smile most everyday.
