About Joy

I have experience in acting for aver 40 years, and directing over 20. I’ve taught theatre and acting for20+ years in a variety of levels- and have held auditions for scores of shows, festivals, colleges, and programs. I have a keen eye for talent and excellent communication skills to help you get to where you want to be with your acting and voice work.

Working with people who want to improve is always a wonderful thing. I love working with people who are willing to try things, and take their craft to a higher level, whether that is acting, or speaking skills, or voice.

I started teaching as a graduate student, haven't stopped since.

I have a Master of Fine Arts in Directing; I'm certified as a Voice Talent by Edge Studios in New York, I have a BA in Speech Communication; I have graduate certification in Arts Administration, I've been teaching in higher education for 20 years, and been acting and directing for over 20 years. I work as an actor and director, and instructor/coach for all elements of theatre and performance.

About the lesson

I first begin with talking with the student about what their goals are. Asking what their previous experience is, what their fears are, what brought them to wanting to learn more about their craft. I will ask them to search further into themselves to see what their weaknesses are, and also to identify and claim their strengths.

Details

Basically 30/hour. If multiple people or commitment of multiple sessions such as at least a month (1 session per week) I will change that to 25/hour.
