About Cameron
I graduated from The Juilliard School. I have 20 years of professional experience as an actor on and Off Broadway, and regionally throughout the country, as well as in tv and voice acting for games and animated features.
As a working actor, I am constantly honing my skills in my own professional endeavors and I bring what I've learned back to my students.
I teach from professional studios in Midtown Manhattan and the Upper West Side. I am also able to coach via skype for those who may not be able to make it in person.
I care about the growth of my students, both personally and professionally. My goal is to be honest and direct while mantaining an atomosphere that is safe, welcoming and supportive.
I enjoy the moment when actors really drop into character...when they become in control of the material. Then they can do anything as that character with ease, freedom, and spontaneity. They own it!
For me, teaching arose naturally from my work as an actor. Fellow actors and friends in different projects I've been involved with over the years liked my work and asked me to help them with upcoming auditions.
Some knew I had Classical training and wanted to work on Shakespeare just to practice the kinds of skills that material requires.
One colleague found out that I have a regular Voice over gig. She was auditionioning for a new game, so I helped her to break down the scenes and I showed her how I record my vo auditions at home.
In time, word of mouth spread and I started to make coaching an official business.
I graduated from Juilliard's Drama division and I have been working as an actor in the business for 20 years.

My process is aimed at getting actors to the point where they are free, confident, and in control of the material. in an audition or rehearsal, I want you to be able to drop into character quickly; and to be flexible enough to make adjustments easily.
In order to get there, we will break down the text moment to moment. We will explore the given circumstances, define the beats, and pinpoint the event of each scene.
We will analyze the language, especially in classical texts where you must ride the arch of a long, complicated thought right through to the end. Then we will identify your character's action and work on driving it home. And we will feel out the character's personal rhythm - the way they move through the world.
At last, we will let all of that work go, trusting that it's there' so you can be present in the moment. The final goal is to act with freedom and spontaneity.
My experience is mostly with professional actors who are auditioning for a role, or need help with something they have alredy been cast in.
I also really enjoy working with actors (pros or not) who just want to dig into some scene work for their own artistic growth.
And I coach students, too, especially those who are preparing to audition for training programs and drama schools.
Teaching and coaching are such a personal matter, whether it's one on one or in a small group. It is important to find the right match. You should find a coach who puts you at ease, and who will always tell you the truth as they see it. Constructive criticism is what you need. Go with a teacher who cares about your success and who will challenge you to grow as an artist.
I was coaching one of my favorite actors in a scene from Act One of Hamlet between Ophelia and her father. I was reading with her, scolding her as Polonius and at the end of my tirade I suddenly scooped her into my arms and hels her tight.
It was a surprise to her. She thought her father was just disapproving and angry. It suddenly became clear that he was criticizing her, threatening her even, because he was worried. He loved her deeply and wanted to protect her.
My friend booked the job and later came back to tell me that they had worked that moment into the production. It was key for her to have that instant of affection from an otherwise cold, distracted father because when he's gone - when Hamlet inadvertently kills him, Ophelia really falls apart and she isn't able to recover.
