About Joe

I have been working as a professional actor/multi-instrumentalist in New York City for more than 15 years. In that time I have performed on Broadway, in clubs, coffee houses, and studios around the world. I believe that music and acting skill add to every element of life, from enhanced communication skills to coordination to memorization to physical and emotional resilience. Whether teaching acting or guitar, I constantly work to create a safe space for my students to learn, grow, build confidence, and reach their goals.

Music and acting are a part of every day life.

We are ingrained with rhythm in our heart and songs in our head. The ability to express music through an instrument can bring comfort in tough times, joy in times of celebration, and expression when words fall short. Music changes the vibrations in the air and has a physical effect on all who hear it. Teaching others to feel and express the power of music is a joy for me and I approach each new student and lesson with a fresh expectation of discovery and excellence.

Acting is connection. Connection to one's own emotions and experiences, to language, to communication, to other artists, and, most importantly, to the audience. Acting is a process, a mental and physical muscle which can be strengthened through practice and dedication. Whether teaching audition techniques, movement classes, voice, text analysis, or simply helping an actor find a deeper connection with their scene partner, I find comfort and excitement in the target-oriented process of acting. As a teacher and a performer, I work to let go of obstacles in order to create a clear path toward a grounded and honest performance.
