About Ryna

Book Smart’s mission is to share the knowledge we’ve gained through practical experience to help students hit the books. We know that getting ready for the next step can be difficult, overwhelming, and scary. Book Smart tutors and study groups help simplify the process.

Ryna is passionate about tutoring, and when it comes to helping students unlock the puzzles of standardized tests, she has over 10 years of experience. Ryna loves working with students one-on-one and in small groups for a personalized learning experience.

Ryna scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT and SAT and received a combined score of 325 on the GRE. Ryna was named Tutor of the Year by PrepCorps in 2018 and was nominated for the title in 2019. She also trained with one of the biggest companies in test prep in 2011. Thus, she knows the best strategies for studying and is able to tailor each lesson to the individual.

(concealed information)

I love connecting with students and instilling confidence in them to acheive their goals. Watching something click in a student's mind when they finally understand a difficult topic is extremely rewarding.

I worked as an ACT and SAT tutor for Kaplan. This job included a rigorous application process (only people who scored above the 90th percdentile on the tests are considered) as well as an intensive training program.

English

I spend at least 15 minutes getting to know my student. What are their goals? What are their weaknesses? Have they taken the SAT/ACT before? This allows me to create a study plan customized to the individual student. The first lesson also features a conversation about organization and study skills, so we can begin our work together on the right foot.
