About Angus

Illinois State Board of Education licensed High School Teacher. Active substitute teacher for districts 365, Valley View, and 202, Plainfield, across all subject areas. Composite 32 ACT score. Graduated from North Central College Department of Education.

Knowledgeable about most high school subject areas including algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, economics, history, essay writing, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences.

I have been doing teaching professionally since obtaining my certification in the spring of 2018. Mt student teaching residency was done at East Aurora High School and my students consistently scored 2.5% above the school average on unit tests.

I have full confidence that I can assist any student to achieve a better understanding of whatever it is that they need help with.

I started teaching as part of a youth volunteer program at the Morton Arboretum where I ran educational programs for children in the Children's Garden. I then worked as an instructor with the Boy Scouts of America before going to North Central College to earn my degree and teaching certificate. Since graduating I have been an active substitute teacher while pursuing a full time teaching position.

About the lesson

The first step is assessing where the student is right now and determining where the student wants to be. Once we have this information we can create a plan to help the student get the results they want.

In a formal teaching setting I have mainly worked with high school students but I have done on of my first residencies with middle school students. As far as ability goes I have worked with students all across the board.

Make sure that the teacher you are interested in hiring is capable of teaching at your skill level. A teacher who does advanced and AP course instruction would be a bad match for introductory instruction while someone needing advanced instruction would be an equally bad match for an introductory teacher.
