About Tim

I can tutor a wide range of topics: Chemistry, Physics and Math, even Philosphy and Economics.

I love to learn, and this is a trait which has served me well as I have taken on several occupations: Chemist, farmer, builder, paper maker, welder and blacksmith, HVAC technican, stock options trader, and tutor. It would be fair to say that I am really a professional student.

I didn't take up teaching as a profession, but went into industry. I did teach college undergraduates while in graduate school. I have also been a technical instructor for employees in a manufacturing environment, disproving the old saw that "those who can't do, teach". Rather, those who can do, can do both.

I have a B.A. in Philosophy from UMaine Orono, a B.S. in Chemistry from UMass Boston, and an M.A. in Chemistry from Boston University. I am also a certifed graduate of the Shelter Institute, Woolwitch, ME and Northeast Technical Institute, Bangor, ME

About the lesson

I like to find out what areas they need help with, along with some background about the person to assess strenghts, weaknessess and goals. I also prefer to look over the course or study materials (syllabus, notes or a text) the student is using, and find out a little about the methods used by the instructor.
