About Teresa
Hello and welcome, my name is Teresa Thiry, most people called me, Resa. I am deaf, and I have been teaching sign language at the community college. I love teaching sign language because I know you will meet a deaf person like me in any place you go.
It is great to learn sign language to communicate with your customers, clients, family, students, and more.
If you happen to really love learning sign language and want to become an interpreter, you would need to go to college to get into the program and degree. If you do, I am happy you are interested. If you are not, I am still happy you want to learn sign language. It is beautiful and when you meet deaf people. You will appreciate the learning you have.
Teaching the students to sign language and know that it is fun!
I enjoy teaching sign language and it is my language. I believe teaching the hearing sign language and use that learning when meeting a deaf person. I would like to see that communication barrier break down because for me I love to talk with people. Even some deaf cannot talk, and we use our hand to sign.
I teach Sign Language level 1 and 2 at the Community College in Avondale, Az.

Teaching the new signs, and practice sentence with the sign had learned. I usually teach then I would ask questions and students answer. Ater that the students would partner with their classmate to practice what was done recently. For online, would do between teacher and students, but students will need to go out in the community to practice signing. The the most benefits of learning sign. Having sign language is help you get started.
I worked with college students and high school student who take the class at the college.
If you want to learn sign language, I would always suggest a deaf teacher. You really pick up fast from them even we sign fast. There is no voice, this is something maybe out comfortable zone, is using the hands and not use the voice.
I am always proud of my students who really learn so much from 15 weeks (community college) I have always tell my students, "remember the first day you know no sign even ABC and now you can have a small conversation" Something for them to feel proud of too.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
There are no right or wrong questions, but in deaf language, it may feel uncomfortable.
