About Rebecca

Hi, I'm Rebecca – a dedicated and approachable tutor with a passion for helping students succeed in English, Maths, Biology, and Chemistry. I'm currently in my third year studying BSc Physiology at the University of Aberdeen, with the goal of progressing to postgraduate study in Medicine, where I hope to specialise in Neurology. My academic background reflects my curiosity about how the human body and brain work, and I bring that same passion into every lesson I teach. I have experience tutoring students aged 7 to 14, both privately and through my previous role at Brent Tuition Centre, where I supported learners across a wide range of abilities. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual pace and learning needs. I believe that every student can succeed with the right encouragement and clear, structured guidance. Beyond academics, I’m actively involved in student life at university—I serve as the Health and Wellbeing Officer on the Surf Club committee and also play for the University Lacrosse team. These roles have helped me develop strong leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills, all of which enrich my approach to teaching. Whether your child needs help catching up, exam preparation, or stretching beyond the school curriculum, I offer lessons that are engaging, reassuring, and rooted in real experience. About the lesson

I take a calm, supportive, and student-centred approach to tutoring. My goal is to make each student feel confident and capable, whether they need help understanding a tricky topic or want to stay ahead of their schoolwork. I believe in breaking down complex ideas into manageable parts and using real-life examples to make learning more relatable, especially in subjects like science and maths. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, whether that means revisiting fundamentals, doing targeted exam practice, or building skills through interactive exercises. I encourage students to ask questions, talk through their thinking, and reflect on their progress over time. I also provide regular feedback to help them develop strong, independent learning habits. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, and I always adapt the pace and content depending on the student’s age, confidence, and goals. I'm flexible with structuring sessions—some students prefer topic-focused lessons, while others thrive with a mixed approach across subjects. I have experience tutoring a range of students aged 7 to 15 in English, Maths, Biology and Chemistry, both one-on-one and in small groups. My previous role at Brent Tuition Centre gave me hands-on experience working with learners of different levels and learning styles. In addition, my background in childcare has helped me develop the patience, empathy, and communication skills essential for teaching.
