About Pete
I am an experienced and friendly qualified Maths teacher and tutor who has always had a love of the subject and a vocation to helping students grow in confidence and achieve their potential. With over 35 years of one-to-one tutoring experience and classroom teaching from Year 7 to Year 13, I have worked with all abilities — from students who find Maths challenging and intimidating, to those who are confident and aiming for top grades. I am patient, approachable and supportive, and I love seeing the change in students as they grow to realise that they can succeed in Maths.

My lessons are friendly, personalised, and focused on understanding, confidence building and results. It is important to me that every student I tutor leaves a better mathematician and a more confident and happier person! I concentrate on problem solving and exam techniques, use clear explanations, step-by-step problem-solving. I will start with a ground up approach checking for gaps in prior learning which can often provide a hidden barrier to students. I will model solutions to questions, give plenty of practice adapting to each student’s pace and ability. Lessons typically last one hour. I teach GCSE and A-Level Maths to all abilities, both in-person and online using Teams and interactive whiteboards.
