About Karimeh
I'm Karimeh! I was born in Bethlehem, West Bank. Growing up, I always knew I would be a teacher. In Bethlehem, I was a Social Studies Teacher at a high school for 13 years. When I came to the US, I continued teaching. I have worked for the last 29 years as an Arabic language instructor, translator, and project developer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Foreign Language Training Center. I have experience teaching high school students, college students, and adults.
Many people think the Arabic language is difficult, but it is actually easy because it is based on three-letter roots, which can be used to build many words. Students have always commented about my enthusiasm for teaching and my ability to make the language easy and fun to learn. I adapt my lessons based on the students' learning style and interests. I also use role play and games, while integrating Arab culture and choosing interesting topics that are both enjoyable and challenging. It is a privilege to teach and learn from my students.
I am a native Arabic speaker with a BA degree in geography and history from the University of Jordan. I am an Arabic culture specialist; I am familiar with the culture, various dialects, and religions of the Middle East. I have developed numerous lessons. I developed hundreds of lessons for GLOSS (Global Language Online Support System), an online Arabic language training course. I developed dozens of Arabic reading and listening lessons for the Foreign Language Training Center. And I co-developed the Arabic 200 Hour Familiarization Coursebook, which aims to give students a brief yet thorough introduction to the Arabic language.
I am excited to get to know my students and start Arabic lessons. I encourage students to contact me to learn more and schedule lessons.
I have 29 years of experience teaching Arabic at the Foreign Language Training Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). In addition to teaching the language, I developed lessons, translated documents, and provided interpreter services. I also taught Arabic at Tacoma Community College.
