About Alison
I have tutored mathematics since I was in high school where I provided peer tutoring to my friends and teammates struggling in their classes. Moving forward I pursued a minor in mathematics while completing a BFA in Studio art. During this time, I continued to peer tutor in university calculus and remained a tutor for high school mathematics.

I am passionate about teaching and supporting learning. Central to my approach is getting a full understanding of what my students know. I believe in order to have success I have to bring myself to your level and guide you as we work toward your goals. I believe in grasping concepts on a big picture level while still being familiar with common lines of questioning students will encounter during their academic experience. I'm not ignorant to the fact that many current students struggle to understand why they ought to perform academically when they can readily access information and tools to work 'for' them online. This is why a large portion of my focus is about instilling critical thinking and reasoning skills regardless of the subject. I am comfortable working with students at high school or undergraduate level.
