About James

I have been a baseball pitcher since I was seven all the way through to the Mens' Senior Baseball League. I have coached many middle and high school boys.

I have a print out that I email after the lesson which describes the pitching mechanic steps that we have practiced.

I will also instruct the student with rotator cuff and elbow excercises with small hand weights that will strengthen the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that are used in pitching. These exercises are critical to be done three times a week at home to strengthen and avoid injury.

Pitching is all about learning and developing the proper mechanics, learning how to relax through breath control, and learning how to laser focus your concentration.

Pitching correctly optomizes the boy's/girl's abilities and helps avoid injuries.

Learn to throw unhittable stikes!

Baseball is the most complicated of all the major sports and the most difficult to master.

I enjoy be able to give back though my teaching what I have learned and successfully used throughout my baseball pitching career.

Giving is the greatest gift.

I started teaching my private pitching lessons years ago for the Gala Event at the Wesley School where my kids attended K-8.

I have been pitching baseballs all my life, from Little League through the MSBL, the Mens Senior Baseball League.

I have also been a teacher at UCLA Extension for many years, not baseball pitching, of course, but Directing. This has given me vast teaching experience which in turn has enhanced my abilities to communicate and successfully work with boys/girls of all ages in my private pitching lessons.

About the lesson

First I do a phone interview with the parent to find out the age and pitching experience of the boy/girl that I will be working with. This is where I will decide whether what I have to offer will be of help to the student.

Boys/Gilrs in Middle and High School.

I think if my initial parent phone discussion goes well and I agree to meet with the student player that he and I will have a successful lesson.

Watching the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
For a baseball pitcher I would like to know what is the most difficult aspect of pitching for that particular boy, how long he/she has been pitching, and what are his/her most recent results on the mound.

Chris

James taught my son Jackson the mechanics of pitching and how to practice them on his own. We had a lot of fun during the lesson.
And for a week or so after the lesson Jackson practiced the steps several times with me catching him. Jackson’s strike ratio then went way up in the games he pitched in afterwards.
The follow up paperwork listing the steps was great.

James taught my son Jackson the proper mechanics and practice routine so that when he plays in a game he can consistently throw strikes. The email following the lesson, which outlined the "pitching steps" was very helpful for Jackson to refer to when he needed to. And he had a really fun time learning from James.
