About Connor

I am currently a Junior at the University of Michigan studying Neuroscience and Emergency Medicine with a biology coursetrack.

I have spent the last 5 years focusing on pre-medical related material and have had recent experience with upper level coursework in many fields. In addition to this, I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician in the State Of Michigan, therefore answering any medical, college, or highschool coursework related questions should not be a problem at all. In additon to this, I am an active landscape business owner within the State of Michigan, as well as a very active volunteer both medically and non-medically.

I have a passion to teach everything I learn, as it not only allows someone else to benefit, but it allows me to reinforce material constantly, allowing me to be a better teacher and tutor. I adapt my method of tutoring based on the student's learning style- whether it be flowcharts, written notes, or language. I am committed beyond the timeframe we are face-to-face and always open and available to answer questions virtually. Being that I am currently a student, I am able to answer questions as not only a learner, but as a teacher who has recently interacted and been tested on the material. I am able to better build a working relationship with the student as I understand the position they're currently in- as I was standing in their shoes in a recent time.

I started teaching when I found it helped me to solidify material much better long term. Teaching allowed me to grow and gave me an opportunity to share the knowledge I've acquired as well as tips beyond the information that a textbook can't give a student to help understand more involved material.

I have successfully completed upper level medical, biology, science, and social science work at the University of Michigan level. All completed with a B+ or better. In addition, I own a Landscape business, and am a Certified Emergency Medical Technician and Responder in the State of Michigan and have the accomponied training.

Upon meeting the student, I first like to get a basic introduction for one another to create a safe learning environment. In addition, I focus on setting the basis for a working relationship in which both of us grow knowledge wise.

I focus on getting to know the student's learning style to try to individualize my lessons as much as possible for them, rather than a one size fits all type of approach.

I've mainly worked with Highschool students of all ages, middle school students, as well as many college underclassman.

I would make sure that the teacher you hire knows the material you will be tested on in an up to date manner, that is you can be taught material concepts- but knowing how to apply those concepts, knowing test formats, and knowing how questions are asked is a large part of being successful with any subject you intend on learning. Additionally, I would make sure the teacher is well versed to understand the material from multiple different directions, viewpoints, and learning styles. Learning style differences play a huge role on if learning sessions give any benefit to the student

I am fond of the School Board of the town I live in for passing a resolution which retroactively and continually weights GPA for advanced courses allowing the district to be more competitive with college admissions.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about learning style, depth of knowledge required for the material, tips that you know may help you, and what type of learning environment you thrive best in
