About Edward

This club is primarily geared towards providing instruction for children ages 9-17. However, if space is available, adults can also receive instruction. The goal is to establish a passion or enjoyment for archery with the next generation of athletes. Skills learned here can transfer over to a path of hunting or even towards Olympic gold one day!

As an archery instructor and a full-time teacher, I have a strong passion for helping students learn new skills. In the classroom, I teach my students about integrity and how this information can help them in the future. With archery, it’s very similar. I enjoy helping others to see the benefits of the sport in other aspects of their lives.

I have been an Elementary School Teacher since 2006, so I have a lot of experience working with students of various ages. As an archer, I have been an instructor with USA Archery and National Field Archery Association (NFAA) since 2013. In that time, I have instructed several 5th and 6th grade students, as well as recently moving into private instruction.

One of the first things that needs to take place is getting to know a student and his or her other interests. Often, this can help to build a relationship and trust, which are critical components to any instructional experience.

Do not spend a lot of money on new, flashy equipment when you’re new to archery. While it’s a fantastic activity, it can start to get expensive quickly if you aren’t careful. Start off with a simple, basic bow and 6-12 aluminum arrows in good condition. Become comfortable with the minimum requirements and then add to your list of equipment later if you decide to advance your skill set beyond recreational fun.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is your plan/reason for pursuing archery instruction?

What is a realistic budget that you are willing to put towards archery (equipment, instruction, etc)?

What style(s) of archery is/are most interesting to you (recurve, compound, competition, recreation, hunting, etc)?

Right now, I offer an introductory lesson for $25, which covers the very basics of getting into archery. Those interested in pursuing archery under private instruction will have that option, but price will vary based on the frequency of instruction and student needs.
