About Guy
I have been a Paramedic/EMT since 2008 and Trauma Nurse since 2020. I have worked some of the busiest hospitals 911 and critical care ambulances in the country. I have also worked in the clinical setting, surgery, and dedicated trauma setting for the past 4 years. I became involved in education in 2019, focusing on EMT, Paramedic, CPR, and first aid training.
I absolutely love working in the health care field. The best thing about being a paramedic and nurse is that every call, every day, is completely different. No two calls are ever completely alike. Plus, the job itself is completely rewarding. It is a great feelilng to know that you were able to help someone on their worst day and make a positive impact in their life. When it comes to teaching, I love to see the light bulb go off with my students. That's the instant where that student truly understands that information. You are helping that person to become the best EMT, Paramedic, or Nurse they can be.
My education:
I acquired my EMT-B certificate back in 2008 and acquired my Paramedic certificate in 2011. I am also ACLS, PALS, and BLS certified. I am currently in nursing school and will graduate during the summer of 2020.
My Experience:
EMT-B: Volunteer EMT from 2009 to 2011. In 2011 I became a paid EMT.
Paramedic: I acquired my certification and began working as a paid paramedic in the summer of 2011. I have worked in some of the busiest 911 systems in the country, worked in the critical care transport field dealing with LVAD, ECMO, balloon pump, high-risk pediatric, and high-risk trauma patients for 2 years. I have worked emergency medicine in the racing industry, worked in the surgical field on perioperative and PACU side, and have down clinic based medicine as well.
Educator:
I have been an educator now since 2011 for EMTs and Paramedics. At all of my employers I have worked as a trainer for newly hired EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses.
