About Mike

My services stand out because of the fact when an athlete walks into my gym, they are giving me the permission to train them at the highest level possible.

The Fundamentals/Skills we will work on:

Speed/Agility

Footwork

Sprints/Conditioning

Dribbling

Shooting

Counter Crossover Moves

Athleticism

Most importantly we will work on how the mind is able to download and take in the fundamentals/skills of the game. There are going to be times when the athlete doesn't think that they can go any harder. That's where the mind plays a role!

When you train with me be ready to work!

I love the game of basketball. It's my passion! I've been playing it since I was three years old! I played for the University of North Carolina at Charlottes Practice Squad from 2013 to 2016 under Coach Cara Consuga and Coach Nicole Woods!

I graduated from UNC Charlotte with BS in Exercise Science.

I currently work with Yes I Can Basketball as a training Site Director under Coach Mac McGovern and other players that have played Division 1 Basketball! So I know what it will take for that individual to get to the next level!

When I’m not around the game I usually enjoy time with God my Family and My Girlfriend! God has my heart and he’s given me this passion for the game of basketball so I won’t stop with the passion that God has for me!

I was training to tryout for my high school and college teams and before I knew it there were a couple of kids who were training with me. I didn't realize the calling that God had in front of me until my junior year in college. Before you know it, I started training kids in my neighborhood to currently now in the Yes I Can Basketball camps.

I have an Exercise Science degree from when I attended UNC Charlotte. I currently work with Yes I Can Basketball ( a non-profit organization who trains the youth so far as skills and fundamentals are concerns). We have training academies and scrimmage games to observe competition.

My typical process of working with a student is first, getting to know them and wanting to know what are their goals or achievements so far as basketball is concerned.

I would then ask them what's the highest level of basketball that they've played and what position they've played so I can get a sense of their skill level.

I would also tell them to keep in mind that I'm going to work with them and train them at the highest level possible, but at the end of the day they have to want it.

Particiularly I've worked with college guys my age and now I've been able to work with kids around the ages of 10-17 year olds through Yes I Can.

If there is any advice I would give a young kid who is thinking about pursuing the game of basketball, it would be to improve every aspect of your game. If it's discipline, defense, confidence, working on your craft and always learn to be coachable. Take advantage of every moment and play every game like it's your last!

When I'm able to train young basketball players and I see them do the drills I taught them in a game and their successful. That's an event I'm extremely fond of.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions that students should ask before talking to teachers about their needs would be to be honest with their selves into what their weaknesses actually are.

If their able to identify what their weaknesses are then the trainer can create a program to improve those weaknesses of their game.
