About Emily

Basketball is a true passion and way of life for me. My basketball training consists of learning while having fun. I want kids of all ages to enjoy the sport so my teaching strategies are unique and cater to each child to instill encouragement, knowledge and most of all confidence. I want your child wanting more at the end of each session!

I received a Division I basketball scholarship to University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After I graduated I went the coaching route. My coaching experience consists of Head Varsity high school coach, Head Coach for a 13 and under AAU team, assistant coach at Division I Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia and assistant coach at Division I Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. In the last 7 years I've been an Elementary and Middle School Physical Education teacher. In my spare time I LOVE training kids of all ages, so much so, I want to make it a full time job! And to top it all off, my husband played at Illinois Wesleyan and is the Elmhurst Head Men's basketball coach. So basketball is a HUGE part of my family! Go Bluejays!

I started basketball training lessons during my senior year in high school. I continued training throughout the years because it's something I LOVE to do and truly enjoy watching the students progress!

About the lesson

I make sure before we get into training, I spend a few minutes getting to know the student. I like to get to know them a bit and find out what they enjoy about the sport. What they think they're strengths are and what they think they need help with. It's always nice to hear their side.

I have worked with both genders and ages 5 all the way to 18 years of age.

Make sure that teacher has your best interest in mind. The student can learn while having fun.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should try and communicate what they want to get out of training. Give the teacher a baseline so they can make training fun and interesting.
