About Zakiah

Hello all! My name is Zakiah, but most refer to me as Coach Z. I’ve played basketball ever since I was little, but at the end of my middle school career and the begging of high school I had 3 surgeries in 3 years that brought my basketball career to a hault. This really brought me down for a while, but I’ve recently gotten into the coaching aspect of basketball to share my love for the game with this upcoming generation of children. It has felt great to give back and teach the sport I love. I’ve been an aau coach and trainer for the past couple of years, and have taught ages k-12. Basketball isn’t just a game, it’s a foundation for the future. I teach hard-work, preciseness, and how to over come tough situations with mental toughness. I’m still relatively young, so coaching has been a unique experience for me. The kids relate much better and I have a better time understanding what might be going through the kids minds. It’s a pleasure to be able to share and teach basketball :)
