About Joseph

Greetings to all parents and young women/men interested in learning the intricacies in the wonderful game of basketball! My name is Joseph Powell and I fell in love with basketball at 5 years old. Currently I’m 38 and played competitively maxing out my abilities after playing NCAA Division I. I have heard many coaches speak at all levels and honestly I believe most understand it better yet have their hearts in the correct place. However, having been in the games, huddles, and most importantly practices there were several things that remained clear to me when it came to separating myself from others (or recognizing other individuals that separated themselves). The simplest answer is that God blesses everyone differently and our natural skills, athletic abilities, and mental capabilities will determine much of our success. The key in my opinion is how close each individual can get that trinity (natural, athletic, and mental) to behave as 1!

When it comes to my coaching I have a huge heart and invest everything in to everyone that entrust me with something so sacred. I won’t only coach but I will learn from each young adult and find them correct approach that adapts with their learning style. I am definitely demanding but I’m caring and loving because growth comes with smiles and tears at times. Most importantly, to finish this growth is uncapped because I believe anyone can accomplish whatever they set their mind to and work to achieve. Without that last sentence I would never have stepped foot on a Division I court! That was led by a slight arrogance with supreme confidence and the belief that if I out work everyone then when opportunity comes my preparation won’t fail me! For me, that made me forever proud and I’m hoping to meet eager parents and young aspiring adults that align similarly!
