About Lois
Many students who choose to study biology have the intent to go to medical school or be a part of the health field. So do I! I am a graduate student with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, a minor in Chemistry, and working towards an M.S. in Applied Molecular Biology. It's safe to say that I do enjoy all flavors of Biology and love helping students learn about the field in a less daunting way.
The students! I believe there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to teaching/learning. Everyone has a unique way to absorb information -- it's just a matter of finding that method. My goal is to help the student find there way and eventually become independent with their own learning.
I started tutoring elementary school students in South Korea when I was in high school, mainly because I am a native English speaker and many Korean-born students are required to learn English. However, throughout my undergraduate and graduate years, I noticed that collaborating with other students in classes such as Biology and Chemistry was crucial to fully understanding the key concepts. Knowing how much I struggled early on, I hope to help students who are currently in that stage of learning.

I do like to get to know the student from the beginning and what his/her interests are. Do they actually enjoy what they are studying, and is it simply a difficult class that they are in? Or does the student absolutely loathe the subject and as a result perform with lower quality work?
Also, I strongly believe in teaching concepts that will be absolutely necessary for the student. Science subjects like Biology and Chemistry are endless. Let me know what exactly is being taught in the class, and I will do my best to help the student be successful.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have I already been given sufficient information to answer my question, understand the material, and perform well on exams?
Rather than simply asking for the answer, is there something about the key concept that I do not understand yet? What part am I struggling with?
