About Ava

I am a sophomore in high school with a huge passion for Biology. I plan to major in biomedical engineering when I go to college, and I have so much love for Biology. I really want to share my knowledge with other students in an engaging and informative way. I tutor biology to students after school during the week, so I do have past experience and would be very helpful. I would love to help students understand the topic and clear up any confusion that the student may have. The goal is for the student to achieve great grades and feel very comfortable with the subject.

I got started teaching after I took Biology. I thought that I would be the perfect fit for teaching. I am great with students, and I teach in a very stress free environment. I take my time with my students to make sure that they fully understand the content. After taking biology, I saved all of my notes and did some extra practice over the summer to gain extra knowlage. Because of my love for the subject, I knew that I would make a great tutor. I am always making sure that the content is always fresh in my mind and constantly refresh myself on the topics, so that I can give the best instruction to my students. 



I have taken Biology freshman year of high school. I finished with one of the best grades in my class, and now teach biology to other freshman students that need help.

The first thing I like to do is to get to know my student. I want the student to know that they can feel comfortable when learning with me, and I try to create a stress free environment. The next thing that I like to do is to understand my students preferred teaching style. This way, when I teach, I can do so in a way in which the student feels comfortable. 



I have worked with freshman biology students. I have mainly worked with students in the honors classes who are learning biology at a more complex level, but I am comfortable working with students at all levels. 



Some advice that I would give to a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to make sure you hire someone that will teach in a way that makes you feel comfortable and feel like you are learning. The best way to learn is to learn in a way that engages you and interests you. 



I am very fond of Earth day. It is a day to celebrate environmental protection, but also a day to appreciate our environment, specifically the complexity and creativity of our biomes and organisms all around the world. What I also love about earth day is that it draws attention to the extinction of different species, and brings awareness and a sense of hope for saving our beautiful environment. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Some questions that students should think through before talking to teachers about their needs are: am I prepared to bring my best to the table and work very hard to achieve great grades and a great understanding, and: is this the right teacher for me? These are very important questions that will really benefit the students if they are answered with confidence.
