About Zach

I am known as being a social story-teller! I love using analogies and descriptive examples to make material feel very palpable. I am very adept at explaining a concept in an entirely new way to try and make it connect personally, which also aids in long term retention.

Further, I am often considered the most zen and laid back personality subtype. Studying is stressful, and anxiety ridden. I get a ton of satisfaction helping others relax, enjoy the moment (even through stress) and refocus on the mission. Enjoying life is just as important to me as results, and being a calm and engaging tutor allows me to connect with that passion of mine.

I started teaching while I was studying to take the MCAT because if you can teach a subject, it means you know the material!

That being said, I've always loved analyzing new ways to become ultra efficient. I'm an efficiency junky and throughout the years got addicted to learning new traits to a high proficiency as fast as possible (new sports, hobbies, and games). My personality overlaps a ton with analyzing someone's strengths and weaknesses and helping them maximize their gains in as short as time as possible.

Bachelors in Biology (4.0 GPA), and a verifiable 521 MCAT score.

I did online MCAT tutoring for free while I was in undergrad and during my gap year (found my clients through friends or Reddit). Now that I'm an adult with deep loans and bills to pay, I must unfortunately charge for my services.

About the lesson

Mostly undergrad students. Half of my students learned English as a second language, so I'm comfortable working with individuals who aren't native speakers.

Make sure to look for a teacher who is willing to adapt to your needs. The best teacher's are always learning and are willing to alter their own personal approach to best fit the student at hand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
As a student, have I tried new ways of studying the material?

Am I finding myself loosing focus when reading material and can't truly connect with it?

Am I having trouble keeping myself accountable?

What about my current habits aren't producing the results I want to see? And, what is my timeline?

Details

All lessons start with a free one hour diagnostic (the first hour is often very unproductive for student learning), and is more for me to settle into a student's goals, current ability, and strengths/weaknesses.

After the free hour, my rate is $40/hr. I usually begin and end each session with some small chit-chat, and that time will never be billed for.
