About Isela

I love knowing that I am helping another student better their academic standing and comprehension in chemistry

I found myself always tutoring science courses in my college classes and I realized it is something I really enjoyed doing and wasnt viewed as a hassle.

I am working towards my chemistry minor and biology degree at SJSU, so chemistry is still fresh in my mind. I am also the one that explains the lessons we go over in class to her peers.

About the lesson

I like to asses what level they are at and what they are struggling with. Sometimes the student will be able to tell me where they are struggling, and other times I give them some problems to see what they know. From there, I can begin teaching them what they are having trouble with, sometimes, students are missing gaps from certain lessons. If the students teacher allows their students to see what they are learning next in class, I will introduce them to that topic so that they are not frustrated when they learn it in class.

Usually college students highschoolstudents, and I have tutored elementary school students few times.

Find a tutor that is right for you. Look at what level of knowledge they have on the subject. Try to figure out what your learning style is, because that way it is easier for the tutor to accomidate your learning needs. If you dont know your prefered learning style (visual,audio,or repitition), than dont be afraid to ask your tutor to try teaching you in each of the methods to find out which one sticks. Personally I learn better by repitition and audio.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before talking to your teachers, try to figure out what way you learn best (audio, visual, or repitition). Consider what hours you need to get tutored. Also think about what you need from your instructor, and what they will be needing from you. An example is you need your instructor to be patient with you or explain things at a slower or faster pace. Your instructor will most likely want you to try your best to respect and be vigilant towards themwhen they are teaching.
