About Vanessa

Hi everyone! I have been private tutoring for 7 years, in the subjects of math, science, and French. I have had countless clients and have mostly been spread around from word-of-mouth due to my friendly approach and my ability to keep my students on track and meet their goals. Clients have appreciated my approach, outlining that my effective teaching makes concepts easier for them to learn.

My favourite part of tutoring is seeing when it “clicks” for a student. I enjoy them saying that they had never been taught the subject my way before, and it was much easier to understand. I love seeing their improvements on assignments and tests, and I love finding new and creative ways to share my valuable knowledge.

In order to be a successful chemist, you have to be good at math! Throughout university, I took calculus courses where I excelled with As in the classes. I used these concepts daily in my labs, and because I am a great teacher, I am able to pass on this knowledge successfully. I really like math, did well in it all of my life, and am always excited to teach it!

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry with Thesis with Distinction (A average) and a Masters Degree in Chemistry (A+ average, specialty in organic chemistry). Throughout this time, I volunteered in laboratories where I learned practical laboratory techniques in order to deepen my academic knowledge. During my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I had a younger students work under me, where I was responsible for teaching them various chemistry topics so that they could understand their own thesis projects and be able to present them confidently to a group of experts. Throughout this time, I was also a Teaching Assistant where I was responsible for teaching chemistry labs to groups of undergraduate students. I was able to form friendly relationships with the students such that they I was requested for private tutoring sessions.
