About Krystal

I am passionate about cooking authentic Chinese food and communicating Chinese culture through the common language of great food to my student. The way I teach language is to open the door for my students to a whole different and robust world.

I was graded as the first level in the Mandarin Proficiency Test by State Language Commission of the People's Republic of China in 2012.

I came to the US for Nonviolent Communication training and had 3-year work experience for a prestigious educational group that has schools both in Beijing and Silicon Valley. My communication skill allows me to build a meaningful connection with my students. Due to my rich life experiences, I am not only a Chinese tutor but also a mentor and coach in terms of their study and future life.

I love to share new perspectives and to be the bridge to broadened horizons.

I got my master's degree in educational psychology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a prestigious university, ranked #38 in QS World University Rankings 2023.

Before my master, I was trained as an English teacher by the biggest educational group TAL in China, and worked for one year as a full-time English teacher.

About the lesson

Getting to know each other. I need to know my student as a friend, his or her interests, and hobbies. What kinds of food or flavor does he or she like? I firmly believe that meaningful learning is based on meaningful human interaction. Once the connection is built, deep leanring happens naturally.

Elementary school students and middle school students. Age range from 6 to 15. I can also work with adults.

With strong motivations and clear goals, your learning journey will be more fun and enjoyable.

$50/per hour for online lessons.

$70/per hour for in-person lessons, the extra fee is transportation cost.

For in-person lessons, I will drive to your house and cook one authentic Chinese dish or more with my student. It would be a really fun and interactive Chinese language and culture lesson.
