About Connie

My passion for tutoring started when I started learning Japanese in college. Every day, as I learned Japanese, I would voluntarily teach my Japanese tutors Mandarin and English as a gratitude in return. Given that English is my second language, I understand the challenges of a beginner. In addition, I have developed methods that help students learn effectively. I enjoy the coaching process, and I feel accomplished when I see students master every little phrase from scratch. Also, I love having conversations with people from different age groups and backgrounds. These conversations have helped me understand the way of different cultures.

I am a native speaker of Cantonese and Mandarin and have acquired Japanese proficiency through college study. So far, I have tutored more than 1000 hours. The age group of my students ranges from 5-year-old children to 65-year-old retirees. And they are from different professions and cultural backgrounds. I am looking forward to meeting you and answering your questions.

About the lesson

I usually discuss with the student about their goals first. Then I will access his or her level of proficiency. At the end of the first lesson, I will have the lesson plan for the coming few months to give an expectation to the student.
