About Lydia

Ya Yan Mandarin Classroom is the first project based learning language school in DC area. We used the dynamic and interactive approach to provide theme and project based learning experience. I offer both after school classes, as well as school day classes for homeschool students. I aim to teach students language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as Chinese history and culture.

I have taught Mandarin for kindergarteners and elementary students in a private school for about three years. I have over 10 years’ experience in teaching Mandarin. I was certificated as a superior level by ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language). I am a freelance writer and have a BA degree in management.

I started teaching while I was in university. My first student is a korean girl. We worked so well and I gained so much confidence from the experience.
