About Edison

I am a lifelong musician and recent college graduate and I am offering clarinet lessons online. With a decade of experience performing on clarinet and piano, I'm familiar with effective practicing strategies. By offering lessons, I hope to share music with students who are just beginning to play or are looking for advice on how to perform well.

I enjoy the challenge of taking the notes on a page and turning it into beautiful music. Although the chance to play for an audience may be the end goal, the careful practice and study of music is just as enjoyable for me. When I see students approach challenges and become more confident in their abilities, I am inspired to do the same.

I have been performing on the clarinet and piano in school-related musical groups for 14 years. During that time, I took private lessons from professionals. I have performed with a local community band. I also compose and arrange music in my spare time.

About the lesson

For new students, we will cover basic techniques for improving tone and clarity of sound. After that, we will study technical challenges specific to the instrument and how they may be overcome through practice. Music may be taken from a method book if the student already has one, else pdfs will be provided. Music theory will also be discussed when it is relevant to the repertoire in a lesson.
