About Kaitlin

I am a clarinetist of 10+ years. I have several years of band and orchestra experience at the high school and college level.

I have had passion for music since I was a small child. Learning music has been a huge part of my life and I would love to give back for the opportunities that I have had. In my studio I desire to teach students why music is so important. I will focus heavily on technique and fundmamentals so that students can develop the skills that will enable them to play beautiful. We will also focus on material in the classical repertoire. In conjunction with classical necessities I would like to expand their minds to modern repertoire that is equally important. The culture of music is constantly changing and it is very important that we participate in the wonderous interactions of music between cultures and people.

I have learned and performed several clarinet solos such as Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, Ernsto Cavollini's "Adagio and Tarentella", Resanovic's "Ballistix", and more.

Won the UVU concerto competition two years consecutive: performing Franz Krommer's "Concerto for Two Clarinets" op. 35 and Claude Debussy's "Premiere Rhapsody".

I have performed as principle clarinetist in Stravinski's "Firebird Suite" and Shostakovich's "Symphony no. 5".

I made Missouri all-state high school band 3 years consecutive. I play principle clarinet in the UVU Wind Symphony and UVU Symphony Orchestra. I intern with the Utah Valley Symphony Orchestra.

I have been wanting to start teaching for two years now. I first started in high school by giving lessons to a girl that was struggling in my high school band program.

I am pursuing a degree in Clarinet Performance at Utah Valley University. I have played as Principal Clarinetist in the UVU Symphony Orchestra and the UVU Wind Symphony.

About the lesson

I will have students come for a first free "trial" lesson. I think it is important to have a good student to teacher relationship.

I have worked with students who had no experience and also those who had very little experience and desired to begin private lessons.

Make sure you are getting what you want out of lessons. If you have goals tell me about them. As a student myself, nothing is more frustrating than feeling like you are not progressing.

I had the opportunity to perform one of my favorite pieces, "Premiere Rhapsody" by Debussy, with UVU's Symphony Orchestra. It was so fun to share this piece that I loved so much with people who came to hear a night of music.
