About Alyssa

Growing up Sicilian-American, I was always surrounded by incredible food, but I was the pickiest eater. It wasn't until I left the US for the first time at a young age until I realized how much I love food, culture, and cuisine. Tasting and preparing the foods in the way that my ancestors had prepared in the past connected me to my roots in a way that I had not been before. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with Endometriosis this past year where I began to modify our family's traditional recipes to match more of a holistic and modern way of eating. This way I could still enjoy the foods I love, like pasta, but give it more nutritional properties by making it vegan or omitting fatty ingredients in sauces. This is where Lulu's Kitchen was born! Once I began teaching classes in 2017 I realized how much I LOVE teaching, and more importantly how much I love watching people learn. This has been such an incredible outlet for me to share my culture with people, and really make cooking and eating well an accessible experience for everyone. None of this would be possible without the love and support of my family, my friends, my love, and my friends to come. Thank you for being a part of my journey!
