About Maria Gabriela
I've been dancing for 7 years now and love to share with more people what I feel passionate about. My favorite part about being a dance instructor is to see my students improve their skills and enjoy this beautiful art.
I consider myself a very energetic person and try to keep the energy up for the whole class, my favrite part about being a dance instructor is teaching people that dancing is more than just movement, there's feelings, cultures, health, happiness and so much more behind it, and love to see more and more people joining the salsa dance community .
I can definitely say that I started teaching "by accident". I joined a salsa dance studio here in San Diego and people started asking me questiopns during classes, after this I has hired as a teacher assistant at this dance studio, with the time I realized that I really love to share my knoledge and to help people improve, so now I like to teach private lessons since these help much more to reach the student goals
I was born in Colombia and started my dancing career over there 7 years ago, now that I live in San Diego I dance for a salsa and bachata dance studio and also work as an instructor over there.

For new students, first I like to know some details about what they really want to learn, after that I usually use the first class to check different skills and figure the best pace for the class, I always start with really basic steps and tips, as the student is improving the class rythm will be faster.
I have work with beginner students and advanced students as well
Make sure that you feel comfortable around your instructor, dancing for the first time can be challening and not being in the right environment could make the process slower.
Salsa crongresses! I love to talk to my students about all the different salsa events happening all year long
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have you dance before?
How do you feel about your rythm and musicality?
