Michaela has been teaching dancing for nearly seventeen years, earned dance teacher certifications from both Fred Astaire and Arthur Murray studios, has a Masters degree in education, and thirteen years experience running her own public school classroom. With a background in science and a passion for dance, she can discover how you learn best and translate that to instruction you can translate to the dance floor with your partner.

My favorite things about teaching couples to dance are the magical moments when couples discover they can learn to dance, when they find themselves dancing and joy washes over them, and when the connection they are developing on the dance floor brings on sparks and flirtation.

I began teaching dancing in college, when helping the junior members on my dance team.

I certified with both Fred Astaire and Arthur Murray when I worked there after undergraduate school. I then earned a Masters degree in Education and was a full time public school teacher for thirteen years. I find blending syllabi, the relaxed joys of social dance, the technical trained dancer in me, and the science educator in me makes me uniquely qualified to teach couples, especially couples who learn very differently and want to pursue dancing together to enrich their relationship.

About the lesson

I’ve worked with teens through couples and individuals into their 80s. Currently, my focus is on adult couples.

Qualified instruction can be found all over town but there are many who are not qualified as well. People who get lots of compliments on their flashy dancing, don’t necessarily know how to teach but often begin doing so anyway. Safety first! Make sure your instructor pays attention to alignment and technique that keeps your body safe. A good instructor will treat you with respect, and never pressure or shame you into purchasing dance lessons, they care about you and are interested in how dancing will enrich your life. A good instructor strives to find how you learn best and teaches you and your partner each according to your learning styles.

Tuition varies based on your personal needs and goals. I host some events that are $10/couple, dance parties which are $20/couple and include an intro group class, four session group class series which are $129.99/couple, wedding packages, month to month plans for couples bringing dancing date nights into their lives, and more!
