About Maggie
I’ve always wanted to teach. I am really grateful to all my teachers who’ve helped me get to where I am today. I would love to do the same for any aspiring bassists!
I received a bachelor’s degree in double bass performance from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and a master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Depending on their existing knowledge of the instrument, if they are just starting I will have them start without the bass, learn the most efficient movements (because it’s a big instrument!) and then start on the bass with pizzicato. If the student already has some knowledge/basic proficiency, I start by figuring out what kind of teaching method they respond well to, if they are good at copying what I play, or respond well to me talking through the pieces, etc.
4th grade beginning students to high school intermediate students, musician peers at semi-professional levels.
I attended the National Orchestral Institue + Festival in Maryland. I got to work with world class musicians and play in a very high level student orchestra. I learned a lot from my peers and my mentors and enjoyed performing 6 fantastic concerts over the month!
