About Mokhtar

Creativity! Be able to create posters, flyers, and other design elements on a daily basis is the most fulfilling experience. Being able to encourage others in this creative process is the most rewarding feeling I have known. By working on an individual basis, I can encourage the individual passions of each student, making learning more fun and interactive. I have been creating visual arts for over 15-years and am highly proficient in many forms of art, including oil and acrylic painting, pen and pencil, and graphic design with the Adobe CC Suite. I have an AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences, an AS in Business, and am finishing up my BA in Communications and BFA in Graphic Design Marketing. My portfolio can be found at : (concealed information)

During my first years in college, I began to understand how different the learning experience was for everyone. In so doing, I also realized that teaching in a classroom is not necessarily the most effective, as curriculum must be made broadly, in order to reach the widest audience. This was when I first started operating my study hall sessions, where I could work one-on-one with students to help them better grasp some of the more difficult concepts.

My AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences, BA in Communicatins, and BFA in Graphic Design Marketing have all prepared me for this role. I have previously tutored art and organized and tutored in a college program for Statistics, English, Logic, and Critical Thinking.

Step one is always getting to know the student and letting them get to know me. A good environment for learning requires comfortability, and that means tearing down walls or barriers that may exist. We must also decide on exactly what the student wants from this experience. Hobby? School subject? So many variable effect the learning curve for students and the teaching curve for me. Finally, I'd like to create a plan that is very specific to the individual student. I do not work in universals, and learning is also. It a universal experience. Fine tailoring a program for my students means finding what motivates them, and creating, for them, an enjoyable educational journey.

Mostly young adult, college -age students. Though I have also worked with younger, grade school age children.

Find someone that you can enjoy interacting with. While you may not be living with them, an enjoyable student-teacher relationship is the key to effective learning.

I strive everyday to be better than the day before, and to keep my eyes open for opportunities to help. Most recently, an advocacy group I am envolved with, was missing a member during a film screening. I was invited to take his spot on the panel and was commended at the end by the organizer for my abilities to "touch the souls of those in the audience" with my words. I was incredibly proud of this as what I was able to do brought attention to the cause.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think prior to any consultation, one must consider what their objective is by seeking the tutoring. Oftentimes we place so much pressure on ourselves to perform, only to realize later, this performance was for something, or someone, else. Figure out exactly what you want from this experience, then generate a list of questions that you feel may be relevant to this purpose. If you don't know what to ask, it's okay, a good tutor will work with you to help, after all, we are here for you.
