About Monica
My service stands out in that I can cater to any experience level, age group, or type of student. My teaching is like artwork; open-ended! I am ready to teach according to my students' needs. I approach teaching so that my students feel nurtered, while I also keeping in mind clear goals for my students to keep them on a path of improvement.
I am super excited to help my students improve their drawing no matter their current level and experience! I love to share my passion for creating art, and I believe that drawing skills are fundamtental to be able to express yourself and reflect your creativity. I attended arts school for visual arts, painted a mural for my high school, and have immense experiences in the fundamentals of drawing that I hope to share with my students. Art is a beautiful way to connect with other people, and I hope that I can provide intruction to help my students improve their art skills, but also define their passion for the arts.
I have been involved in the arts ever since I was a child, whether that art form was dance, drawing, painting, acting, architecture, and food. I led my high school dance company in my senior year, and also painted a mural for my high school. Projects like these have benefitted my pursuit of art immensely.

After meeting my students and getting to know them, I want to know what their goals, if any are, from taking art classes. This may be something specifc like being able to draw a face or hand. Or it may be something more vague such as the goal to do more art every week. I want to understand their needs first and see how I can be an agent of change for them. I will also provide check-ins every few weeks, depending on the student, to see how they feel about their progress and what they want to focus on in our classes.
