About Lori

Daugstrup Fine Art classes and painting events are lead by Lori Rosenbaum, BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis. I share my home studio which is set up as a classroom. Regular students even have cubbies to store their work. My home studio is my forth studio location and has been very well recieved since I moved classes to this Rocky River location in 2019. The classes are offered most weeks with a reservation so you can book classes online according to your availability. I am proud to develop youth and adult artists to take the next steps in their art. Exhibiting the wonderful work created by students has been a focus. We proudly have five youth artworks by artists third thru eighth grade accepted in a highly selective juried show on display at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Additional artists placed at the Cleveland Insitute of Art Scholastics for the last three consecutive years, and two students as well as myself are published in the 2020 Academy Graphic Communication calender which included a show at Balwin Wallace's Farwick Gallery. A regular display is maintained by Daugstrup Fine Art at the Rocky River Civic Center, and we enjoy show casing our artisits!

I have a passion for teaching and am always thrilled when a parent tells me how their child shows great pride in the work they create. My job is to mentor that experience. Suggestions and demonstrations during our class time guide the artwork into becoming execeptional. I have been teaching fifteen years and still take journal notes after each class to capture a lesson or breakthrough experience.

We supplement the class experience with art history, and reflection on what was accomplished during class. Parents are encouraged to join the last fifteen minutes of studio.

I began teaching my children’s art classes at the Rocky River Rec Center and my adult classes at the Rocky River Senior Center. Eventually I moved classes to my studio.

I have a Bachelors in Fine Art in painting and a minor in art history from Washington University in St. Louis. I have worked as an artist, custom framer, and art teacher in varying capacities since 1984.

About the lesson

The student can look at pictures of what they would like to paint. I help them to accomplish their version of the reference painting. We can spend time as needed on lessons relating to that goal.

I have an active weekly classes with a youth class ranging from fouth grade thru ninth grade.

The adult group is a mix of beginners who come for lessons as well as accomplished painters who come together as a painting group.

Ask for a referral, or take the first class and see how you like it.

I was very excited to lead a painting event for a stroke recovery group. This was a way to share painting as an option for recreation. I also held a painting event for a down syndrome center and had very engaged painters!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My only requirement is that you want to paint or draw. Look at other artworks, take screen shots and think about what you like in a painting or drawing. When you begin working be open to discovery and surprises.

Details

Classes with your own supplies are $20 and you are welcome to enjoy uo to three hours in the studio with the group.The adult class is Wednesday noon-3PM, and youth classes are Saturdays 1-4PM. During the summer the youth class will be offered on Wednesday 9AM-12PM. This will give ample time for both instruction and independent work.
