About Phillip
Throughout my life, I have realized that my greatest influence has come from a few respected mentors who beckoned me to stand upon their shoulders of experience. They challenged me to risk failure and develop my own thought process in the pursuit of excellence. To be relevant in the contemporary art world and in life, I believe one must holistically develop a sense of awareness of all of life, and then extract the personal message that inwardly burns to be expressed.
We all remember those few teachers who exhibited that special ability to bring out our personal best; maybe “we could really fly”. I have done this in many arenas throughout my life. Now, I would like to give back to students the gift I was given and perhaps inspire someone else to be their best and express themselves through ART.
I have a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University.
I am a current studio artist. I have done several TV interviews for PBS, LeSea Broadcasting and for the late Dr. Robert Shuller broadcast both domestically and internationally.
I have over 35 pieces that have been acquired by private collectors and institutions in the US, received commissions from private collectors in France, introduced to the Vatican Pontifical Commission of Art and group traveling shows conducted in China, Europe and US.
Exhibitions ventures: Whitney Museum of American Art; Yale School of Art Gallery; San Jose Center for Performing Art; Faces of Christ Collection in France and Madrid.

When I first work with a student, I find out what they want to accomplish first. Their goals - then I teach them how to get there.
I have worked with elementary, high school and adult students.
You want to look for someone who has BEEN there. One who not only teaches art academically, but is a current artist who understands what it is to be a beginner and who now lives by the passion of art itself!
I had a 95 year old ask to see my paintings last month. She was delightful, and when she saw the painting "Peaceable Kingdom - the Lion and the Lamb", her eyes lit up and she purchased the painting. It wasn't about selling the painting only, it was about the discussion, what it meant to her, how everytime she looked at it, it brought her peace. That's a memory! That's what it is about.
