About Richard
I grew up in Newport Beach and attended Newport Harbor High School, where I won a National Merit Scholarship.
I then attended UC Berkeley. (For my Junior Year Abroad, I studied literature at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.) I graduated with degrees (Honor Student) in Humanities and Psychology.
Next, I attended San Francisco State University, and I graduated with a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
I taught and tutored students for many years in California, Europe and Asia.
Now I am a full-time tutor. I can tutor any subject in the Humanities or Social Sciences but teaching English to speakers of other languages is my speciality.
I have tutored students of all ages, from school age to adult.
I speak conversational Japanese, French and Spanish.
I am available to tutor from 2:00 to 3:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00, Monday through Friday, and from 2:00 to 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
