About Rebekah

I am a native English speaker from America. I have taught English online for 8 months with 800 classes and counting. I have 200 five star reviews, and no reviews below 5 stars! I also have a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, 3 years teaching experience in public schools, and 13 years of experience working with Child Character Development Programs. I love helping students reach their English goals. I use easy steps to understand grammar, perfect my students' pronunciation, and offer a friendly, happy environment to learn. I would love to help you expand your English knowledge and speak like a native English speaker!

I started teaching as an Exceptional Child teacher in public elementary schools. I spent 3 years helping students with learning difficulties read, write, and learn math.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, 3 years of experience teaching elementary aged students in public schools, 13 years of experience working with Child Character Development programs, and 8 months experience teaching English as a Second Language online.

About the lesson

I offer full English Immersion classes. I start slowly, teaching my students how to give simple introductions. I gradually build vocabulary using props and motions to help students understand new words and phrases. Then, I build on grammar and conversational skills with each class. I go at each student's own pace to ensure retention and understanding. There are three main stages of learning a new language: 1) listening. A student needs to spend time listening to a new language to hear the new sounds required to speak properly. 2) Speaking. After spending enough time listening to new sounds, the student will be ready to practice these sounds by learning vocabulary words and phrases. When listening and speaking skills are mastered, the next stage is: 3) Reading and writing. In this stage, the student is ready to transition from speaking to identifying the letters that make each sound, and forming the letters into words and sentences. I provide support for every level of learning English and have helped many students start with no English knowledge transition into full sentence readers and fluent English speakers.

I have worked with students from 4-18 years old. Some of my students have learning difficulties, while others have no English knowledge. I have also taught students who are almost completely fluent in English.

English can be a challenging language to learn because our grammar and pronunciation rules are not always firm. However, if you are open to learning, and understand some rules change, you will be able to speak, read, and write perfect English with time!

I have taught a student from China who is 8 years old for about 5 months now. He had no English knowledge when we began working together. We had a class the day before Christmas. After our class, his whole family gathered around the computer to say, "Merry Christmas, Teacher Rebekah!" It was such a pleasure to hear him speak a perfect sentence and for his family to acknowledge my culture. It was a beautiful moment!
