About Eilish

I am a recent college graduate passionate about teaching, with experience ranging from high level music education as a Conservatory trained violist, to US Politics, American Studies, Internatonal Relations and Law, writing, and test prep. I have extensive experience with teaching and tutoring, as a private lesson and group music class teacher for 10 years, and I have worked in editing, writing, and test prep since high school. I studied US Politics and elections, international law and relations, and Comparative American Studies and Geography during college, and am passionate about imparting my study skills and diverse knowledge to others.

I am a recent graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where I earned degrees in Politics and Viola Performance, and where I gained extensive knowldge of a diverse array of subjects, and learned how to juggle (and study efficiently!) many different subject areas and requirements. I have extensive experience teaching music (violin, viola, piano, music theory, music history, and music appriacition), and have been tutoring writing, test prep, and subject areas since the start of college.

About the lesson

I approach teaching and tutoring from a very individual perspective, and I like to take time when first starting to work with a new student to get to know my student's learning style, what they're looking for from me, and establish clear learning goals and timelines. After I have determined what the goals and learning styles are, I will develop a leanring plan that meets the student's needs, and go from there. If, at any point, this needs to be edited or entirely changed, I'll sit back down with the student and establish a new plan.

I've worked with students from 5 years old to over 65, and find the challenge of figuring out learning styles and the challenges and joys of different ages to be inspiring and exciting.

Find someone who you clikc with, and who is willing to be flexible and work with your needs! It's a major red flag if a teacher is prescribing just one way of doing things, and that does not match with your learning style or needs.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. How do you learn best? What setting are you in? Are you an auditory, visual, or tactile learner, or some combination of the three? Do you prefer group settings or one on one instruction? 2. What are you looking for? What do you specifically do you need help with? And what do you think you can do on your own?

3. What are your learning strengths?

4. What is this teacher's instruction style? Are they willing to adapt to your needs, or are they inflexible about their approach?
