About Grace

Grace holds a New York State certification in instrumental music education and maintains a private studio. Working with students of all ages and skill levels, she fosters a learning environment that encourages growth in creativity and improvisation. She is currently on faculty at the Rochester Contemporary School of Music in Pittsford, NY. She has also taught masterclasses and lessons for programs including Rockport Jazz Workshop, Music Makers at Eastman Community Music School, and Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camp.

I enjoy connecting with people over a passion and interest in learning about all the functions of music. Whether a student is interested in increasing their technical facility or listening skills, we all have room to grow as musicians!

I hold a bachelor's degree in Music Teaching and Learning from the Eastman School of Music located in Rochester, New York. I'm certified in New York State to teach K-12 music education, and have maintained a woodwind studio of my own over the past 5 years.

About the lesson

The first lesson is a combination of assessment, measurement, evaluation, and getting to know one another! Once I have an idea of the level of interest and background I can create a lesson plan for the following week. Lesson assignments can include anything from scale exercises, chord progression practice, to learning new tunes, and listening projects!
